Meal For One

I had a lonely dinner
defrosted it again
I'm looking a little thinner
now that we aren't even friends

I left the plastic on the peas
wasn't in the mood for food
I couldn't eat the cherry cobbler
'cause it reminded me of you

Remember when we cooked together
I'd do the chopping, you'd sautÈ
now there's a missing ingredient
and I threw the recipe away

So now I'm picking at the stuffing
cemented to the tray
This diet isn't helping
to get me through another day

I'm doing all my shopping
at the convenience store down the street
and buying all my groceries
in half the quantity

I hate the frozen aisle
it's as cold as your goodbye
the last time I think I smiled
was when I had your homemade cherry pie

They're checking me out at the checkout counter
while I read the TV Guide
my convenience foods scream 'bachelor'
pity glances from all sides

The ice cream's slowly melting
like the meaning of our vows
the cashier wants my savings card
but who can save me now?
