AREA BANDS COME ON STRONG
Caught strong gigs by two Rhode Island-area bands last weekend.

Leah Carlson & The Liars Club on Thursday at The Call in Providence played fresh, soulful Fiona Apple-style organ rock.

The Cautions, Friday at Snooker's at The Green Room in Providence, aspired to the synth-pop style of Weezer. The band pulled off a breezy set of smart and brawny, energetic songs. Frontman / guitarist / keyboardist Eric Barao rustled Atari-pop to life, giving the set a stylish, animated feel.
